Thoughts on this information regarding non-AKC reg

Thinking we may have to pass on these guys.

After considering the information/comments offered by all....you have confirmed my gut feeling that something doesn't feel right.

Pups were 8-weeks yesterday, which puts the pups whelped on 26 June, not July...backup another ~60 days puts the Sire partnership around the end of April.

We have a couple of other litters (with excellent pedigrees) to see in a few weeks when they reach age, so think we're going to wait until then.....we've seen some 3 weeks pics and like what we see so far.

Here's an example of the pedigree on one of the litters:
The mother has produced one AKC champion, one UKC champion, two Canadian champions, and two others with AKC points. The father's half-brother, GCH Jesstar Nirvana (same mother) is currently one of the highest ranked shelties in conformation in the United States.

As a newbie, there's quite a bit to learn before that first guy is selected!

Thanks to all for the comments.

Dam is related to both Diva and Jamie. Oh and Birch

On the father's side, it goes back to my Hamish's father Alfenloch Ryan O'neil. I recognize others in the pedigree from my guys' lines.

I think you are wise to forego this litter. Something sounds way off. Hope one of the new litters you are planning to see will work out for you.

She doesn't want notoriety? By selling the pups without papers with this story she is spreading notoriety.

Jesstar Nirvana breeder lived in your state, and now resides in Florida, so I pray she doesn't involve JS in anyway in this situation.

This breeder is pricing the pups at breeder costs, when the breeder knows even by accident this is not an ethical sell when she refuses to register these pups. She considers them out-casts then price the pups as such.

I would have had to ask, your saying the pups aren't worthy to be registered?
Your stating these pups are inferior? Your worried about your rep more then the pups? Oh that sure helps notoriety! :gaah

The links are not related to the breeder in the weird situation but the litters of the 3 week old that they decided to wait for.

Yep, the links are to the ones we're waiting for, they are not the breeder offering the non-AKC pups.

I guess I brought them into the picture rather poorly. Probably should have started another thread discussing them.

Apologies for the confusion....

When I read the link I thought this was the breeder. Sorry about that.

I have seen where one breeder had a person help handling her shelties, and there were mess ups. Another breeder was not directly involved but her name was brought up. I just don't like seeing a bad rep put on a breeder when they don't deserve it.

In fact I was in the middle of this person's mess up on one account. She was not doing her job. My motto is, you treat people the way you want to be treated.

Sorry if I came off harsh, I call it venting, when someone tries to pull the wool over someone's eyes with a story.

Okay, definately not physically possible for that dog to mate in the US in April then mate again by August in Australia. Importation from the US means 6mths without contact with other dogs. So yep, looks like the original breeder was lying through their teeth (maybe that's her excuse for why you can't see the father - which makes me wonder if the sire was even a sheltie).

But it's great the other breeders have already provided you with information about the parentage. I know the wait can be awful but you'll have a much better relationship with a breeder that is open and honest.

You know this story makes me nervous. I already have an OCD about finding my perfect sheltie which I know in itself isnt good but I have to defend the time I spend looking, the amount of money a dog will cost and the years I hope to spend with my gal making me wanting her to be the look I want. I am 50 almost 51 so I imagine 15 years if I am lucky, more if I am really blessed so this dog I get will probably be my one and only sheltie ( unless I can get a second one shhhhh dont tell anyone yet) so I have a picture in my mind of the dog I would like and there are several dogs owned on this forum I would call my perfect dog. Getting a puppy that to me at the 5 ,7. 9 weeks stage pictures well looks like a guinea pig throws me off. Some older dogs I saw one wears diapers, not housetrained etc that I dont like in an older dog and I have to be on my game of there wont be anymore dogs in this house if this proves a disaster like changing diapers I know would cause. Then I see story about breeders, puppy mills and well terrible breeding practices and I think I will never find the dog I want. It seems there is major competition for a female when they are like 3 months or so and the real coloring seems to be coming out and you have a good idea of the beauty. I wont apologize for wanting a beauty that makes me get lost in her eyes and love her more and more. One I can give my unused maternal spoiling to and be happier for it. How in the world does one pick or get that beautiful creature?

I think this might belong in some different post not sure, sorry if I am wrong.
