I got a really nice email from customer service this afternoon,and they were requesting Mia's measurements. And have offered to send Mia one of thier Thundershirts.

I was totally taken by surprise to hear from them.I was on thier site the other night,and sent an email to them,and also a picture of Mia. I was asking questions about the product,since I had read & heard so much about them.Thier customer service rep was very helpful in answering my questions.

And as luck would have it,I actually got to see one last week.The pet shop where we happen to buy kibble from when we are in NC,happened to have a thundershirt on the counter.

It was thier own shirt they keep on hand for issues they run into with pups that are scared,or skittish while they are there for groomings,training etc. They said they would never be without one,and for every instance they have used it for,it has made a huge differance in the dog once it is applied.

Since Mia has such fear of being put down on the floor,after we had carried her from one point to another,we have had near scary moments with her,as she becomes very flighty,and really gets scared.

She also has developed the habit of spinning in her x-pen once we set her down,and has had near calls of hurting herself,and hitting her muzzle on the sides of the x-pen.
The spinning is not normal "sheltie spinning".She is spinning to the point of almost falling over from dizziness.

This is not a new behavior,but it is increasing to the point that we are afraid she will hurt herself seriously.It only happens when we put her down on the floor in her pen.
So hopefully this will help.
 
Interesting product. I bet Mia is aggravated since she has lost her 'location' When you pick her up she has lost her point of reference but that is cool because she trusts you guys and likes it. But once set down she has lost her buddy and point of reference, I could see that being a bit unnerving. Have you tried putting her down touching something?

Do they have pink ones :biggrin2:
 
One of my agility trainers uses them on her Belgian Treverns and has nothing but good things to say about them.

I hope they help Mia.
 
I think it's so great that companies like this are sending you products. I think it'll help her immensely. I've heard only great things about them. I always wondered if it would help Koji (with his anxiety), but I never got one.

Here's hoping it helps her feel more secure/safe/and overall a good sense of well-being. :)

It's funny you would ask,as the one they had at Woofers was pink! I have been looking at them on Ebay,and there are mostly grey,blacks.A few sellers do have pink,but most times it is sold out.

It's difficult with a point of referance,but yes we do try.The blanket she has in her x-pen seems to be comforting to her.

It's a big sherpa one.All of the pups have used it at one givin time,especially in thier crates.She loves that blanket.Once she stops the fast spinning,and she realizes the blanket is close by,she will stop.

We also are using touch with her,especially under her neck,she will pretty much follow you anywheres.

With Bumper,our point of referance was her litter box.She could hear though.She knew when she was put in her litter box,food was also close by.So it gave her a sense of direction.

We hope so to~ As of the last few days,I have kept a t-shirt on her,and she seems to do fairly well.Although not as snug as the thundershirt will be,I think it does give her security.
 
So, the premise is that they feel secure, like a swaddled baby? I always thought you wrapped a baby to recreate the feeling of being in the womb. I don't get how this works, but it seems awesome. I wonder if it really helps with nervous barking.
