Thyroid meds prices

Just curious if anyone has used Walmart for pet meds.
I am just looking for ways to save and thought rather than going to the vet for meds for Baron I would try to order from them vs the vet.

Walmart - Thyro-tabs
120 - .3 mg tablets $8.13
Vet - Soloxine
8 - .3 mg tablets for $9.92

Thoughts?

Wow...that’s expensive at vet! I got Riley’s at the vet but they weren’t nearly that much. Think I paid around $60 for 120 tablets, which of course is still more expensive than Walmart (our prices are different of course). If I recall the vet meds were a bit different, coated maybe...I was told the human meds could cause stomach upset. I’d say try a months supply (or the 120) and see how he does on them..if he does ok and bloodwork is good keep on the lower priced ones.

Have you priced them at Wedgwood veterinary mail order pharmacy? Most meds are cheaper there.

They don’t carry pill form unfortunately. Going liquid and using a syringe seem more trouble than it is worth

We get Shelby’s blood pressure meds at our local grocery store much cheaper. I actually often shop around with the different stores and pharmacy to see who has the best price. We have never had any issues.

I got my dog’s at the human pharmacy. Vets in US can write prescriptions there sometimes. Much cheaper than at vet office. My vet recommended it to save money.

Vets here too can write scripts as well but only if it’s a human med. animal specific you can only buy at the vet. There used to be a couple pharmacies that specifically carried dog and cat meds but not sure if they still do...there was A LOT of push back from the veterinary community!

I have used Walmart for Koko's metacam. Got the generic at much cheaper. Only issue was getting the thing started--they said they sent the request to the vets office and vet said they never got it. Once that was cleared up shipping was fast. Sadly they are out of loxicom, so I went to petmeds for a refill and they ran out, so now I'm using chewy!!
