Tie-dyed update

Ollie is now a little over 7 months. His coat is taking on adult qualities. His mane is much more apparent now. His color has become a bit darker now. Still interested in your thouhgts. We get asked what color he is and I don't think blue merle fits very well.

He's a sable merle My Lark (6 months old) is very similarly colored, though perhaps a little less silvery than he his.

I'd say sable merle too.

I know he is Sable Merle, and that is what I tell folks who ask, or insist he's a Red Merle (Assie owners). He is quite striking and we will frequently have people pondering what he is, breed, color.... I just want others to see him who wonder about coloration, and show that Shelties can morph in colors. What the coat looks like a 3 month may not be what the coat looks like at 4 months

I think it is a lovely colour, and very unusual. It will probably continue to alter until he is fully mature. Sable coats usually get darker with age and each coat change. I imagine that sable merles would be similar.
