Tons of rain and potty trips

:rolleyes2: Well, our atmospheric river is on its way, apparently. They say 3 - 6 inches today, maybe as much as 8, who knows. It may stall out over our area, aren't we lucky. We should be OK as far as our roof and we're not in a flood zone, but dreading the potty trips outside in pouring rain and wind!!

I think we'll end up taking out one dog at a time, with umbrella. I'm still only with one operating arm due to my rotator cuff surgery, which makes it harder for me to help. Hoping Miss Meadow in particular will just get on with it quickly instead of standing there looking pathetic.

Wish us luck! :fl

I feel for you Sharon! Nothing like trying to get your dog to do their business in the rain and wet soggy ground.
While we aren’t getting rain it’s been incredibly mild…I’m talking record warmth (normal highs -11 and supposed to go to +4 C today) and what little snow we had has been melting exposing the grass (and poop I missed lol) and turning what snow is left into an icy slippery mess.
Blueberry still manages but she’s working harder to find a spot to go and Piper doesn’t like to walk on the snow. It’s supposed to get colder next week with a risk of a snow storm (I don’t want that) so the dogs will be happy if that happens.
Crazy weather all around!

Benny refused to potty the last time we had an all day all night rain storm. He literally backed himself up, causing impacted stool which meant yet another trip to the vet as an ER for an enema and manual clean out! I see your storm heading this way and hope it peters out long before it gets here!!

Wish I could send you the ark we built a week ago after literally weeks on end of rain here. At one point we had 5 inches. Our sump pumps are still running occasionally. I'm not sure what's worse, the wet potty trips or the mud. Sorry you're getting hit with it there! Shelties are masters of the sad wet look! Mine stand there blinking at me in the most pathetic way. I tried reminding them of their Shetland origins but they aren't impressed.

Rain isn't too bad here yet.... but I don't live on the coast either.
Pico is a trooper with the rain so far. He sits for me to put on his raincoat and waits for me to take everything off and towel off his wet paws after. I can't imagine doing all this for more than one pup. I will say, once I put on his raincoat (or any harness thb), Pico runs and lays down in a dog bed or goes into his crate. He will come when I call him so we leash up and go, but I would guess that is his way of voicing disapproval LOL

Sharon7 take care of the rotator cuff wow this is not what you need after surgery....our crew will go out in the rain because the love the towlies afterward but you really can't do that with the shoulder.. sorry for you dilemma. Hope CA is finding a way to store all this water for the dry times...

Rain, especially heavy driving rain, is the only weather that Willow really dislikes. When it rains hard, she puts her ears flat against her head and strives to look pathetic and, of course, succeeds in that. She does like being toweled dry however so it isn't all bad for her. I do hope it doesn't last long and that the dogs don't pull too hard for your repaired shoulder.
