Apparently I've heard this is a new sport originating in Germany- something like a substitute for herding!! Is there anyone here who's actually competed in this game or heard of this game before? We've a small team of enthusiasts here in Singapore trying to put this sport into action, it's a really good idea when there are no sheep to herd here in Singapore. At least Rico can do something more positive rather than treating his poor owner here like some sheep or something haha!
 
I've heard of it, and seen videos on youtube, but I have not yet seen it in action. Sounds like fun, though!
 
My club is offering a class in it this fall and we're going to enroll Edan and CJ in it.

We've wanted to try them in herding but the closest farm that offers herding training is 2 hours away and its expensive. This may prove to be a viable option if they are good at it.
 
Bailey and I have been starting Treibball in class for several weeks now! It's really fun, but harder for me (as a handler) than I thought lol. We're also the guinea pig class as far as, the trainer has done it with her dog but never taught it to a class. It's interesting to learn different techniques to do with with... for example Bailey caught of very quick (and so did the Aussie) but Guido the Cane Corso it was a little harder for him because he wants to use his feet!

We've been taking classes in Teibball for about 6 weeks now. The dogs are having a blast pushing the ball around. It really is a difficult game to teach but dogs trained through behavior shaping are really putting things together quickly.

The things we are currently struggling with is sending the dog out to a point behind the ball (the keep stopping to push the ball instead of going out to the target mat) and getting them to push the ball to us rather than all over the place. We're going to keep working at it and we will get there!

do you have a go out or go wide for agility?- you can transfer that to 'herding' and send the dog around the ball. no ideas yet for pushing the ball to you- still working on that part with sheep :winkgrin:
