Did anyone else with a Trupanion policy get this email recently? My dad just received this email about his policy.
Advancements in veterinary medicine continue to improve the quality and lengthen the life of our pets. As cutting-edge technologies and techniques become the standard of care, Trupanion is committed to making these new options available to our policyholders. As a result, a rate adjustment is planned for 2011.
Effective 1/13/2011, your new monthly rate at your current deductible level is shown below, as well as additional premium options at various deductible levels.
Pet Name: Lucy
New Monthly Premium - $159
If $250.00 Deductible - $108
If $500.00 Deductible - $85
If $1,000.00 Deductible - $52
They are TRIPLING their monthly premium! They were paying $50-something a month for a $0 deductibel.... now it's going to cost $159!!!
I'm so glad that something went wrong with my Trupanion registration and that I didn't actually end up purchasing a policy with them. I think I'll just put $55/mo (what my policy was supposed to cost) into a savings account rather than messing with insurance. It seems like a scam!!!
