Twitching ?

Disney my 7 mo old sable has been having muscle twitching. He will be sitting or standing still and you can see his back muscle contract. It is happening quite a bit lately. Is that something to be worried about or is it just something growing puppies experience. He is my third sheltie and I've never seen this.

Have you checked his skin for sores or irritation? Fleas maybe?

The only time I've noticed my sheltie's muscles twitching it was for some reason.

Hollie used to twitch her back when something would "tickle her". Such as if she was touched lightly. Shelby does not do this at all. I did notice when Shelby was a pup her legs would move like crazy when you would scratch certain areas, now that she is older it does not happen any more. I wonder if their neurological system just needs to mature?

No skin irritation or fleas. He does bite and scratch some for really no reason. So I wonder if its just his nervous system developing. He is very healty otherwise. I just wonder about allergies too. Hope that isn't the case.

Could be a pinched or irritated muscle or nerve. Give him a massage around that area and the surrounding limbs. If you feel something twitching under your fingers as you massage it probably is just an irritated muscle. Can't hurt anyway and Disney will love you for it.

Strange moves when sitting on my lap.

Laddie has a strange trait, or at least, I have not seen it in a dog before. He has been neutered, but, when ever he sits on my lap, he sort of rocks back on my leg in the sitting position, not a fully "ride the leg" type movement, but sort of a "jerking" movement. Have any of you seen or heard of this type of action?
