Uh, oh!

Amazing what a boring life we led before Eli! I got back from the gym this AM having left Eli in his crate, and the girls in the den. Came home, greeted the girls, opened the den door to the hallway, and there stood Mr. Elijah, tail wagging and oh-so-happy. I thought OMG!!!! What destruction has he wrought??? :cautious: I must not have completely latched the crate door.

Trail of toys down the hall, he raided the toy box and scattered everything. My husbands clothes on the living room floor, a coat hanger that had been on a chair, my hubby's shoes scattered, the dog mats on the carpet all scrunched up. I searched for pee or poop, but found NONE. ( I have a lot of carpet, woe is me.) My nice UGG boots were also transported into the living room.

But the bottom line? NO DAMAGE! None! And no accidents in the house. I took him straight outside where
he promptly peed and pooped for me - what a good, good boy! The only damage I could find was a chewed up paper napkin he fished out of the bedroom trash can.

Feel like I dodged a bullet! (y)

that is actually pretty amazing:yes:

Shelby didn't get freedom for years. I can't imagine the damage she would have done. Even so she did her fair share of chewing everything when we would turn our backs for a second. She eventually learned how to open her crate and let herself out. When she unexpectedly greeted us at the door with no damage to the house we figured it was time to let her free.

if there's a chewer, don't even leave anything near the crate.
at a seminar, my friend's puppy was in a wire crate, my dog was in a soft crate next to her. it has little plastic clips that help keep it closed when it's folded up- well one of them doesn't clip closed anymore.................

Well the update is he has not gotten out of his crate again, so I must not have latched it right. So lucky he didn't go into destructo mode because since then he has chewed up one of my socks. I'm so glad my UGG boots weren't chewed to bits.

Got him one of the rubbery Nylabones and a rawhide chew and he's made good (supervised) use of those.

Wow you sure were fortunate He certainly was busy. My two never did chew anything up. They did pull the toilet paper
through the hall and down the stairs. They just had to see how far they could drag until it would break.
