UKC advice

We are in South Central Virginia.I think we are going to delve into the UKC conformation ring soon. We are not ready for AKC, but are thinking that with the more relaxed atmosphere we might start wading in a bit. Are any of you in our region? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Ive done about 8 UKC shows, its fun and a laid back experience..infact I do sometimes struggle with how laid back and Un-AKC like it is. There is minimal grooming, no use of product and sometimes even no baiting...ACK!! I feel almost like im not showing when I go!! Heck I showed a few weeks ago for GRCH with my boy (and we won 2 comp wins and gr 2 and gr 4)..and the other exhibitors were teasing me because I was "over" dressed for the show lol all I had on was a skirt and my long sleeve layering Tee, but its very informal, but I was taught to dress like your serious for the win..so I did! :)

These last shows up here UKC is becoming popular so they are running out of space and its a long wait in between breeds..

It sounds like a good learning environment for us. I'm trying to decide who to venture out with just for fun. My daughter's little bibue boy, Duke, will probably be our first 'guinea pig'. He is awesome puppy. His sire is an Am/C Ch. We can learn together.

I just got the email for a UKC show that I'm planning on entering in November. This will be my first foray into conformation. There's a pajama party the first day. I thought, "There's no way people are showing dogs in pajamas..." Then I looked at pictures from the clubs facebook page for last years show. Yep. Pajamas.

I won't wear pajamas since Callie thinks fleece pants are a tug toy.
