Vaccination confusion

Hey fellow sheltie lovers!
I'm unsure on how to proceed with this situation, so help would be wonderful. Lyra is getting spayed and rabies next week (finally old enough for MD laws), and because of this, I discovered that she never had her 3rd set of vaccination shots. Here's the timeline I was emailed.

August 18th- Born
August 29th- Vaccinated and wormed (DA2PL- Parvo vaccination, Wormed Pyrantel)
October 29th- 5 way vaccination and wormed
November 7th- Adoption/drive home (Ohio to Maryland)

I wish I had known that she needed the 3rd set before now!
The question is, Do I restart the 3 shot process or does she only need a booster since she's 5 months old now and her immune system should be enough?

Before you ask why I haven't taken her to a vet yet, I have been out of work until recently and like most people, i'm stretching thin. On a happier note, I am now employed and searching for a reputable vet. I live in Cockeysville, MD is anyone has any suggestions on that. I take my cats to Dr. Shortall, but since the last visit, i'm unsure whether to continue with him.

I hope you guys can help me out! I'll try and post some new pictures of my fluff ball. She's going to be a very small sheltie, unless she hits a very big growth spurt!

When you find a vet, he/she will advise you on what to do. Good luck and try and keep your puppy away from other dogs, parks and public sidewalks until she has all her shots.
 
When my husband and I bought our house when we first got married we brought my childhood dog who was 7 years old at the time. He was living with my parents and they did not believe in taking animals to the vets. I of course took him immedietly! The vet said he would only need a yearly shot since he was probably already exposed to those diseases.

I would talk to your vet since all vets are different but she probably will only need a booster. I really dont think you will have to restart the series, at the most he might just want you to come in for another set of shots after this round.
 
If you're willing to go to Columbia, MD, I recommend Dr. Nancy Kelso without any reservation! She knows herding dogs -- she shows Collies and runs sheep as well.

hmm, those vaccinations, first one was done when 10 days after birth? there is too much mother's antibodies yet present, and at 5 weeks it is still too early...
anyway, do not worry overmuch, as your pup is older now he/ she is able to handle things much easier.
There is big movement out there to cut on those vaccinations anyway... if I were in your shoes I would do one more dose and rabies of course since it is a requirement.
 
I agree 10 days old is way too early. In fact I have never heard of it being done that early. As another poster said the maternal antibodies would neutralize the antigen in the vaccine. The reccomended first shot is at 6-8 weeks, then every month. I wouldn't stress too much as your puppy probably has a pretty good immune system, but I would get him one basic core vaccine and rabies when he is old enough. After that I would vaccinate every 3 years maximum. Thats the new reccomended veterinary quidelines, though there have been studies that show that dogs can be protected for up to 7 years with only one vaccine!
 
I have no mixed feelings about vaccinations they are bad for human or dog health, it is kicking your immune system like shooting sparrow from the cannon...
vaccinations are needed though since they prevent many serious illnesses but take only minimal ones that your pup will benefit... if there problem that has not been seen in this area for ages why immunize your pup against it?
I am not even sure why we are doing 3 sets of puppy shots? Why not wait until 12 weeks and do one set of shots? There are very little chance that maternal antibodies last more than 2 month in the puppy's body... plus if one does those shots fairly close to each other/ within couple of weeks/ one might negate another and both will not work...
