My 12 year old sheltie and been listing to the side and hiding behind TV and in corners. I took her right to the vet because I had a Lab/Shepherd that passed with a brain tumor a year ago and she had some of the same symptoms. The vet diagnosed her with colitis. She hasn't had any diarrhea and is still eating very well. She seemed a little confused and in some pain. The vet gave her a shot and put her on a soft food diet. She seems a little more alert but still is listing and going behind furniture. Has anyone had a sheltie that had colitis but didn't have diarrhea? She does grunt when you pick her up but she has arthritis as well. Does anyone have any advise?

I would suggest that while she may have colitis, she has some other cognitive issues. I know we have people here who have gone through similar things

Yes, my sisters elderly Sheltie did list to one side as well as slight tremors too.
We had her on a medication that helped an infection she had in her brain.

The meds worked and the tremors stopped and she was walking find again.

Don’t know if that is the issue you might be having. Dogs seem to want to hid when they are in pain. Is she on pain meds?
