Is the 500mg including the vp joint and muscle? Or just the supplement? The Cosequin DS is about that much. Maybe I'll just call them....to be sure.

Just called. I guess what they mean by "getting absorbed" is that other supplements don't get absorbed (not sure why). But I guess giving them both won't hurt my dogs. Just don't want them getting so loosened up all they do is lounge around the house all day, LOL. Oh wait, they do that already.

Hmm, I don't remember it being explained to me that way. I thought Lee said that was a small amount (200mg) and that it gets absorbed, I think by other nutrients?

He did say tell me that she'd benefit more if I supplemented glucosamine.

Not sure who I spoke to, they never said their name. But he (person who answered the phone) said there is 275mg in the canine athlete formula. Something about other glucosamine being like vitamin A, where it goes through the dogs system and doesn't really get absorbed. However, he said because of how it's in their formula, all 275mg gets absorbed, instead of flushing through. He said I don't need any supplement, but it wouldn't hurt if I want to continue it (I told him I had my bottles and didn't want to waste it).

So, in this man's opinion, any other glucosamine supplement doesn't get absorbed? Does this mean, vitamin C doesn't do anything for our bodies because it doesn't get absorbed? I dunno. Does this mean he's saying glucosamine supplements are useless? I dunno. I could take my boys off their supp and see if VP continues to help them w/o the supp, or if Miko gets worse (he gets stiff w/o it).

My now-retired vet friend says there are studies that show that dogs don't metabolize generic glucosamine. It has to be specially formulated for dogs. I had been giving glucosamine that I got at the vitamin store, and she said to not bother, they can't use it.

When we adopted Lucy most of her fur was missing. It was so bad, in fact the vet didn't think a lot of it would ever grow in again.

I bought Vibrant Pets hoping it would help her out. This was back in May.

Not only does her coat look awesome now (I LOVED every morning when she'd let me rub her belly fur, she had not a single hair on her stomach before!) - her fur is so soft and getting better every day. It has even grown in where the vet said it probably wouldn't grow back!

My little tri is taking it too, it's fixed up her sensitive stomach.

Lucy's foster mom is now using it for her three shelties and she has the rescue shelter using it for new guys too. The stuff is great. I only wish I knew about it before our little girl Kaylee got sick last year.

I bought a 48 oz canister back in May and still have quite a bit left, one of my dogs is 40 pounds and the other is 25, if that gives you any idea of how long it lasts!

Sadie doesn't seem to mind the taste at all, I wet the food and VP to make sort of a grave and Sadie just about picked up the bowl with her paws and poured it down her throat.

I used "sheltie" in the discount code but didn't receive the discount. I emailed VP after-the-fact, so hopefully they'll honor it. Perhaps that discount has since expired?

Gee, I hope it hasn't expired. I've used that discount forever. I know it's case sensitive but if you used all lower case, it should work. Hopefully they'll let you know...I need to order some too!

It has not expired. I always call and talk to them in person.I just got a jar last week,and got the discount

Lee sent me an email today (Sunday!) that the discount is definitely still good and he didn't know why the code did not work. He is sending me a refund check for the discount with my order.

I am getting my VP today!!!!!!!! I ordered the 16 oz just to be sure Snickers will eat it and it agrees with him. I didnt know about ordering it thru Sheltie Nation. Thanks to Ann telling me about it I emailed Lee and he is sending me a check for the Sheltie Discount. I think it is awesome that they are putting a Sheltie on the product!!
