Oh my goodness... what's up with the mid-west having all the Shelties?? I guess we were in the right place and the right time 15 years ago when we got ours. He passed this summer and our 6 year old springer spaniel is very lonely. It seems hard to find a Sheltie any where near Southern Oregon.

Have you contacted the ASSA for breeders? There is a link there and it is how I found my two (there also seems to be fewer in the deep south)

Dear Karen,

If you are looking for a rescue, try Sheltie Rescues in Oregon. There should be a listing of the lady in Southern Oregon, I believe, who is the contact for rescues. I am really sorry to hear you had to lose your baby. I just lost my precious little Angie Love three months ago at the age of 16 1/2, and I started to look around here (Beaverton) for another baby after about one month. I decided to try to find a rescue but had trouble finding one near me, too, and finally found little Ritchie in The Dalles at a no-kill shelter, Home at Last. You might just find one at a shelter near you if you are lucky. Just keep looking and good luck.

Karen, I do not know how far your drive will be but it might be worth checking nearby states sheltie rescue sites. I know for sure that our IL sheltie rescue will adopt out of state but you do have to pick your dog in person. Few months ago we had man from Rhode Island driving all the way to IL for a doggie.
