I have my very own sheltie friend finally.I picked him up last night. It has been a long time coming and some of the things I have experienced and been put through I am surprised I still stuck it out.
I am the 4th home for a 5 year old boy. He does not possess the list of perfection I was positive was so important to me but somehow I fell under his beautiful eyes spell and I think he fits personality wise instead of looks and gender wise.
He seems to be easy going and gentle laid back, still going through why am I here , you folks aren't my mommy and daddy kind of confusion.
My 93 year old companion I care for has decided he really should be his best friend and for a man who never had a dog in his life before he suddenly realized he missed this his whole life. Within an hour of owning him he believes dogs are mans best friend. I shake my head and remind him this was years in the making and my dream but I think I lost. I know you all say you cant just have one, now I know why, you need more so at least one will love you and not the others in the house, lol. He sits in the back sit with him and I am now a chauffer, not happy about this.
I have a picture but I am struggling to figure out how to post it so until I do sorry.
He is kinda a rescue as I am his 4th home but he was privately listed, his last owner had him a month, his Wife was allergic so I truly feel like my prayers were answered and the owner felt I was the right family out of all the inquiring. His 2nd home had a wheelchair person in it so he won't be afraid of ours when we go out. He is so well behaved. We were told he would sleep on the floor no cage needed, he doesnt move till morning and last night it was true, he slept where I put blankets down and didnt move till morning no cage and 3 cats around, that is pretty good. He still isnt eating anything but peanut butter and cookies. He keeps turning down his food bowl, so time I suppose will fix that. He walks like a champion and knows sit , paw and lie down.
I wanted to lose weight and I am sure it will happen, my legs are killing me from 3 long walks. We walked at midnight quietly last night and we both feel asleep afterwards.
So you all put up with my questions and I felt so ready with him from what I have learned here. Thank you very much and I look forward to showing you his picture. I feel blessed and more thrilled I have a new family member to love.
He does need a new name, he had a girls name and he is a boy. Were working on that part.

Of course he won't eat food when there is cookies and peanut butter to be had. Get used to it Shelties are big time players and some are downright devious (cough Spitfire cough).
