What age to stud

I personally reccomend that a dog be OFA'd before being bred if both parents were not excellent. If even one was good I'd get them done just to be on the safe side.

I think PennHip is a great idea. One of the vet's I use, graduated from UPENN, and is certified for PennHip. The problem I have found is, people who breed to our dogs want OFA grading. Sheltie world has not transitioned over to PennHip being accepted INSTEAD of OFA. So, I could either do both, or just do OFA.
I know it will change, it just makes sense, but we're dragging the breeders along kicking and screaming.

I haven't looked into PENNHip too much, but have always thought that if I had a borderline dog, I would PENNHip. I don't see why people don't accept it, is it because they don't understand it?

What is the price difference between OFA and PENNHip?

I figure we can't get people to pay $25 to list the dogs outside results with CHIC, so PENNHip is a long way off.
