What is your puppy chewing on?

In a few years, I'll probably long for a little mischief.... :) Finishing off a liter water bottle to wrap in a sweatshirt sleeve (the sweatshirt was modified on a warm day) and see if that amuses the little buzz saw while I pick up the debris.

rose bushes

Kaleigh had a preference for rose bushes in their gnarly stage before blooming. I was a bit miffed at her for doing that, but interestingly enough, the ones she attacked actually bloomed better than those she didn't, go figure. I ended up putting wire baskets over them to deter her. She also enjoyed gnawing on bamboo stakes at the height of her chewing frenzy...she would carefully dig them up, when I wasn't looking, run under the bushes for cover and chew away until discovered. I thought the teething phase was never gonna end, if it was presented to her, she would chew through it as if it was a job. Then wonder why I wasn't thrilled. My previous ones enjoyed toilet paper, kleenex, socks, this pup wanted the hard core stuff. Now chewing isn't an important activity, digging the tunnel to China is the focus. :gaah

Mostly me....
But really everything goes in the mouth and I have to correct him on what's okay to chew. He's been pretty good about not chewing it again once he's been corrected. His favorite things are water bottles, his stuffed animals, and mini rawhide bones. He's not quite 11 weeks so I'm hopeful he'll learn early what's appropriate to chew and what's not for when teething starts. His muzzle had leangthened quite a bit which is what I think is causing the chewing now.

Callan is mostly over the stick fetish, finally! I always worried about choking! Dandelions too.

As for his preferred chews.....anything that he's not supposed to. Anything at his level or on the floor is fair game. Paper is fine because it crinkles. Got him at baseboards a couple of times.

He has destroyed countless toys....rope toys, forget it! I find the best stuffies are skineez and Go Dog. Hugglehounds pretty good too. And Kong, of course.

But the best and healthiest hard chew Treat I found for him is Everest Cheese Chews. Hard as rock, last for a week or more and he can really go at it.

We've now also brought in deer antlers stuffed with bull pizzles. I've not tried those yet because I'm afraid of his soft adult teeth breaking, but a guaranteed pleaser!
