Whats With Golden-Doodles!

Goldendoodle's are a young breed though. I think they were developed around the 1980's?

Labradoodle's on the other hand... I would never get one. Cousin has one, unsocial, attempts to bite sometimes, barks his head off. He is so smart though, it's like he's begging them to teach him something but they don't so his energy obviously goes into something negative. They also use harsh methods of training like smacking him, yelling at him, and jerking his collar.

Terrible, terrible!
I see that at the dog park alllll the time, it has exactly the opposite effect of calming a dog down... and confuses the hell outta them... mix in a super hyper dog who is confused... and bad handlers.. a rescue case waiting to happen :(

Here's the thing. A goldendoodle is not a breed if your breeding a purebreed Golden to a purebreed Poodle . That is a mixed breed , a cross. The F1(first) generation will not breed true. The definition of a breed is when you take 2 dogs of the same breed/type breed and breed them together you will get dogs that looks like and acts like the parents. If you take an F1 goldendoodle and breed them they will look more like a golden or a poodle or anywhere in between. It takes about 4 generations of breeding to start to develop type and that is with ruthless elimination of dogs that don't fit the type your looking for ir size, coat type, structure, expression etc. That is why breed standards are written. Most Goldendoodle in NA do not fit this definition.

As for the Labadoodle-you just described a Lab vs a golden. The training methods are not helping. Frankly sounds like more of an owner issue than a Labadoodle issue.

Poor dog:no:

At training club we have a labradoodle named Jenny, she is a rescue, her owner is 71 with one hip replacement, yet she is in complete control of Jenny and though Jenny is hyper she is an absolute sweetheart.

She is one of Cadbury's girlfriends and there is a lot of lab characteristics in her.

Personally, I try to judge a dog not by its breed (or breed appearance) but how it reacts/behaves. After all so much that goes wrong with dogs is due to bad owners/ lack of socialisation/ training, etc.

Thank you! I was going to go into this myself, but it sounded like a tirade.

There are actually "breeders" out there who think that F1 is the only way to go to preserve the best attributes of each breed. Maybe and maybe not. I agree with the earlier statement that a reputable breeder would not release the best (even good) dogs to go into that kind of "breeding program." So if F1 is the only way to go, then they can't even keep the outstanding pups from each litter, but are at square one every time! Okay, off my soapbox.

I would have a stroke if another dog attacked mine.....sounds like you showed remarkable restraint. Dog owners like that should be banned from the park. Is there any way to file a compliant? One of mine has hemolytic anemia so can't go to parks because she can't be vaccinated and could possibly pick up something there.
