So I have heard from several Sheltie owners that their quieter dogs found their voice around one year of age. Our pup, Shelby, is just 7 months now and barks VERY RARELY (maybe one time every other week) and only if provoked by something really interesting. He knows how and can do so easily, just doesn't and there are plenty of things to bark at around our house! Is this a common? Do pups generally seem to learn to bark more at some point or do they usually stick to the personality and "barkiness" they have had since day one. (we are good friends with the breeder and he has always been extremely quiet, even in a high energy/noisy litter)
Just curious if I should expect to see Shelby change a bit as he grows up, or if he might just be a quiet Sheltie, which we would prefer
(not that we would/could love him any less).
