Wolfie had his first real experience with his raw bunny this morning. At first he ran off with the plastic Ziploc and licked out the inside. Then he got to working on the bunny meat. He did really well, but just can't seem to handle the bone. He chewed on it for quite awhile, and finally swallowed it whole (some leg bone). A few minutes later he came up to me and whined, and a few minutes after that, he puked up the whole bone right on the carpet.
He loves the bunny, seems to know he should be eating the bone, but I don't know. He's never been a big chewer, and I'm just not sure his teeth or jaws are up to it.
We ended up playing tug-of-war with the last piece of bunny, because he still wanted more, but the way he was whining, I knew something was wrong. (This was right before he urped it up). I'm glad he got it out quickly, and that's all that came up, no more of the bunny meat. He ate 6 ounces, though. Took a long time, and he did it all without ever touching it. But, this is just simply not going to work if he can't eat bone.
How about bunny pinkies? I have 5 of them. They've got to have softer bone, maybe just cartilage. I'm afraid I'm either going to have to go with ground, or no raw at all.
On an Orijen note: his poops are so tiny now, I laugh when I see them. Now I can pick up a couple day's worth with one baggie.

Mine were not big chewers either. If a dog is not used to tearing at the meat and chewing on bones, it may take some time, but they will learn. You should see mine now! No problems chewing at all. At first, they both inhaled their food, now they chew a bit more.
