Just to give a bit of background to my question. Dad and I moved into a house on a corner lot almost two years ago. Since that time, the dogs have hated the young girl who lives across the street, mostly because she has teased them. A neighbour caught her teasing them a couple of weeks ago. She doesn't if she sees me outside. They also have a yellow lab, which is not really well behaved. I have had issues with it trampling through flower beds, it races up to people walking down the street. A few weeks ago, a fellow was walking his JRT down the street and the lab went racing up to it, every single hackle raised. I thought there would be a dog fit for sure. Also, this young girl has tried to walk her dog. It was lying down and she literally dragged it across a few feet of grass and when it wouldn't get up, she kicked it.
She approached me on Monday and said she had signed up to be a dog walker - she is only around 10 or so - and asked if she could walk my dogs. I said no. Why, are they too nippy was her response. I told her now, they were purebred and I was very very careful with them.
A couple of days later I saw her walking two huge dogs (almost the size of great danes). I couldn't believe that people would let a young girl walk dogs. There are so many issues that can crop up. People seem to think, just stick a leash on a dog and you're good to go.
Would you let a young girl that you barely knew walk your dogs? Would you be responsible for anything that could happen to her or the dogs? Guaranteed, if something happened, your insurance company would have to pay up.
