Just wanted to thank you for all your advice regarding Yuki. Have taken it all on board. She gets more and more confident each day. Fully vaccinated now, so can take her out and about. I am an Australian living in Tokyo and she sees more in a 10 minute walk in this city than a 1 hour walk back in Melbourne! Today she stepped down three stairs and walked onto our balcony by herself; both huge firsts for Yuki as she was too scared to do either. She still scares at noises and cars and strange things, but she gets over it and then moves on. She is not scared of people and other dogs. We have taken to stalking dog walkers in our area, which has made a difference with the stopping and starting on a lead, though this morning she did our block on her own freely. She is now hugely comfortable within our living room and actually a marvel at fetching and dropping the ball right back at your feet. Yuki just needs time to adjust from living a kennel environment to urban city life. She'll get there.

Your patience is the secret ingredient. It's wonderful to hear about Yuki's progress. It would be very cool to see a picture of a Sheltie in Tokyo!

That's great news. Sounds like she just needed to settle in a little. I imagine Tokyo is really loud and noisy - so if she gets used to those noises she'll be doing well.

Love the thought of you stalking dog walkers - conjures pictures of a person and a little sheltie ducking and hiding as they follow some poor person being dragged by a handful of big dogs. I'm sure it's not what really happens, but it's a funny picture.
