I agree. It is absolutely important to feed a healthy diet. Puppy food is great as it has most nutrients needed. Also be sure the nursing mom has a lot of water so as to generate the volume of milk needed to feed the litter.

Think he'll be fine if he's over 6 months. I'd be a little worried if he were much younger. It is important to make a puppy get used to the crate even when you are around the house so that it knows it's a good place to chill when you are out or working on something. I think it'll go well.
