I agree. It is absolutely important to feed a healthy diet. Puppy food is great as it has most nutrients needed. Also be sure the nursing mom has a lot of water so as to generate the volume of milk needed to feed the litter.

I'd say age and type of dog matters as well. With age the older one might be less active and may hate being around a puppy who is excited to jump around all day. Think he'll be fine if he's over 6 months. I'd be a little worried if he were much younger. It is important to make a puppy get used to the crate even when you are around the house so that it knows it's a good place to chill when you are out or working on something. I think it'll go well.
