    A Sheltie for Miley Cyrus?

I hope all those who put down the idea of Miley owning a sheltie are a little embarrassed and ashamed. Seeing that pic of Emu and Miley together you realize how much that dog will be loved. Thank you to the breeder for setting everyone straight.

    Tryptophan

Meadow has been on Prozac for almost a year now for her extreme reactivity and redirected aggression. I have been doing research into tryptophan as an all natural alternative to the Prozac. I have read positives and negatives of the tryptophan and even the use of both Prozac and tryptophan at...

    Nature vs. Nurture

As the Mom to a super reactive, sometimes aggressive girl I am so happy to hear that all I have tried to do with her over the years was not me being a failure with her training but genetic. We certainly have seen a lot of progress but sometimes I just shake my head and accept that this is the...

    poop eater

I know exactly how you feel. Our Meadow is totally the same. And of course if I start to walk towards her to clean up she'll run off with it in her mouth :ick

    poop eater

All I can say is good luck. Our 2 are poop eaters too and we've tried it all to deter this disgusting habit but to no avail. My best advice is to be out there when he goes and pick it up right away. We also have a husky so with 3 it is sometimes hard to be out at all times but it is our best...

Bacca, my boy...has crossed to the bridge....

I gasped when I read the title, knowing you were away. Shedding tears here. My heart goes out to you and Indy. I've always admired you for your total dedication to Bacca, doing absolutely everything you could for him. May he run free with your Timber (hope I remembered his name right).

    Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark...................

Yes, management is key. That is how we deal with it here. We have strategies for different situations and distraction can work sometimes too.

    Bark, bark, bark, bark, bark...................

Shelties are barkers, pure and simple that is part of their personality. After 30 years with 5 shelties I have come to the conclusion that there is no easy way to stop the barking, they are herding dogs it is instinct to bark at moving, noisy things.:rolleyes2:

    Adopting

I do refer to my dogs as my furkids. I never used to until I met our present breeder and she called us furparents. At first I thought it was a bit odd but when I really thought about it, it made some sense. These dogs are as important to me as my children and my grandchildren and require as much...

    HELP sheltie has gas

The chicken in the diet could well be the problem. Our boy had terrible gas that started out of the blue when he was 1 1/2 years. After much experimenting we found out the chicken in his food was the culprit, switched to lamb and rice and taadaa no more gas.

    Asta has vestibular disease

Sorry to hear about Asta. Our Meadow had this last August and it was the scariest thing I had ever been through with any of our dogs. Meadow recovered very quickly and completely, so hopefully Asta will do the same. Although it is considered an older dogs ailment our Meadow was only 5 at the...

    Nickname for your dog?

Reno's is Reno Beano and probably you can figure that one out. After some room clearing episodes we figured it was his food (chicken is a no no ) And Meadow is our Missy Meadow.
