I forgot to add, he slept most of the day after the vet yesterday ( no more ataxia just very mellow energy wise) but this morning he was 100% back to his normal physical and emotional self.
Okay so I have an interesting update.
At first the vet thought given his previous history that he most likely has petite mal epilepsia and that his ataxia is his "seizure" however I feel that because at minimum it lasts two hours with our last event lasting almost 11 hours that this is an odd...
Thanks for the info, He's generally fine on revolution because his ataxia doesn't coincide with when he gets the dose. I thought that maybe it might not be helping the situation and it would be good to start ruling possible causes out.
Do you know if this is safe for collies? Gordon's been won revolution and I'm now worried its contributing to his ataxia so I'm looking for a new alternative
its horrible not knowing whats causing it! It is like vertigo but our vets have never mentioned that as a cause. I wonder if perhaps the low protein has something to do with diet? Ive always had a feeling Gordon's could be diet or metabolic related but again the easiest answer is a type of...
Gordon's ataxia is back. He had an episode about 6 weeks ago and another last night. Normally it lasts 2-3 hrs and he's fine in the morning but when I woke up this morning he is still stumbling a little bit and isn't is normal self. its breaking my heart :(
We've never seen a classic epileptic...
Hi BarbV
From what the Breeder has told me, her original Breeder is now living in a retirement home and raised her from birth for two years. Because of this she hasn't socialised much with humans in particular men and is fairly timid around strangers.
She has for the last two years been living...
Yesterday I went up and saw the breeder to take photos of her dogs. we stayed for a while longer to chat about Zara. She's being dropped off next Saturday morning :D we are so excited!
She was very wary of us at first but then slowly warmed to us. She licked our hands and let us pat her gently...
thanks for all the info, I went and saw the breeder yesterday and she said she was going to bring her crate, bed and food bowls with her for the trial. she also recommended casting her separately when we aren't home for a while before putting them together unattended.
Backstory; Gordon's breeder wants to rehome a 4yold ex show dog Zara because she can't give her the attention she needs to build confidence around people. She's shy around people especially men. She can be assertive with other dogs and is athletic and love lap cuddles.
....so the conversation...
Hi Guys, thanks for all your advice. Still having to make a decision about Zara ( thats her!) but i'm feeling hopeful we will give a trial a go. so watch this space!
Hi everyone!
Gordon's training has been going really really well lately, ever since i switched to using skinless Vienna sausages :D BUT
The instructor at the club won't let us move up to the next grade until he can do the sit stay where we walk a full circle around the dog. ( we are still...
