New puppy w. RASH, Another Question for Breeders

strong odor caused by fleas? The odor is horrendous. I have only had him one night. The areas are specific not all over. His chest, and back on one side and random areas here and there. Nothing on his legs, arm pits, neck area...seems strange that it could be from fleas. But, I honestly...

New puppy w. RASH, Another Question for Breeders

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share a few pics of new puppy that arrived with horrible rash/skin funk. And Another important question to ask a breeder when you're seeking one out to add a new family member. Doing all of my home work and reference checks etc. I welcomed home a little...

    She's turning into a Monster!

Happy New Year Everyone! I do understand that all dogs go through their adolescent stage, but I think I am experiencing overkill or just a normal puppy? Phoebe now almost 11 months (spayed) seems to be getting incredibly unruly. I am not sure how to handle it. She has always been very...

    Be careful what you teach....

That is so great.... Imagine if you wanted to train that? Thank goodness you were at your family's, could have been worse...like a train station with an open guitar case and lots of coins in it. I think it is a Letterman moment!! Starr the infamous pick pocketing dog!!!!

    Release cue?

Hi Everyone, me again... I have a quick question and I just want to be clear about the answer. Do I use the same release cue for any stay? If I tell Phoebe to go to her mat, is it the same release cue for a stay outside? Into her crate, etc. I am just wondering if I should use a different...

    Funny but not...what to do?

Wow it must be a trait... Phoebe is exactly the same. Loves to pull on anything she can get her front teeth on. I have diverted her from many of them with success. I guess we should be happy it isn't our arms and the guys legs! Got to love the shelties!!

2 Kindergarten classes, which one is best?

Great Article I am still confused though....maybe I have to read it earlier when it hasn't been such a busy day. I recently watched a Kathy Sado seminar on DVD and she explained all of the different training. I get lost in the jargon and confused with the methods. That is a great idea to...

2 Kindergarten classes, which one is best?

Season's Greetings! I have decided to enroll Phoebe who is 8 months in a kindergarten class. She knows most of the basics already. However, we certainly need some tweaking in some areas. My reason for this is for the socialization, and to have distraction with the basics. Presently it is...

    Funny but not...what to do?

Hello All, This may be a first as I can't seem to find any information on it anywhere. Ready.... My 10 month spayed female loves to use her little front teeth. She pulls threads on her bed, the carpet and my sons leg hairs. He normally hangs around the house in shorts and she is right on...

    Expectations for 'Stay' with duration?

Ahh Reinforcement another question.... I haven't been treating much while in stay, but it sure makes sense to do that. Thanks I will definitely do that...treats on the way. Is sit stay, down stay, and a heel stay (at my side) all the same or taught independently? Thanks again I very much...

    Expectations for 'Stay' with duration?

Season's Greetings Everyone, I am not sure if we have hit a road block or perhaps ADD (only kidding...I think :wink2:). My 10 month old can do about a 2 minute stay inside with goofy distractions and has been doing that duration for a while. Once we hit that point she is like a anxious...

Training an older dog to heel

Heeling I always look to youtube.com and the videos on there. Here is a few of my favorites. If you search 'Heel command' you will get tons of different videos. Good Luck :) Lisa http://www.youtube.com/user/kikopup#p/a/7287C737FB745168/0/voW2Vkq0u6Q...

7 days out from being spayed and...

I am worried. My little Phoebe just today started peeing on the rug. Four times today and it is very unusual for her to do this. An occasional accident (last one over 3 weeks ago). She is just over 8 months old. Is this a common warning sign for maybe a urinary tract infection or something...
