Baker butchered

Sorry to report another bad grooming story...

Wanted to make little Baker look his best for a photo shoot tomorrow on his 1st birthday. Groomer claimed to have Shelties as one of her favorites to groom.

3 1/2 hours later we picked him up. He was brought out - happy to see me and hubby whisked him out to the truck so I could write the check.

Within a few seconds of driving away I realized how bad he looked.

SHOCKED when the pet spa actually posted his pic on their site!!!

Needless to say photo shoot has been cancelled...hubby has now nicknamed Baker "butch"

I'd be darned annoyed too. That's not 'grooming'- that's topiary! Why do people think clipping a dog like a hedge is a good thing!

Hope you've contacted them to tell them off and to get his photo taken off their site. Can't believe they're proud - it would scare a Sheltie owner away.

At least it should grow back to normal fairly quickly. I guess she could have done worse.

It will grow back. Sca got a 'smooth' trim once also. Of course he never has been as fluffy as Baker looks, Spitfire is our resident fur ball.

Maybe scaring away sheltie owners is a good thing since that is what they produce. Poor Baker:(

They finally took the photo off their website - wonder how long they will leave my review there.

AMEN to that!!! what is worth "posting" about this cut...seriously it looks like a hack job, not a professionally groomed sheltie...is it that people DO NOT KNOW what a sheltie is supposed to look like groomed? They can't be this ignorant and actually CHARGE for this as a professional cut. Maybe everyone interested in grooming their sheltie should take in a copy of Sheltie talk and say, this is HOW my fur baby SHOULD look when you're done, anything straying from the pictures in this book is considered BUTCHERING a sheltie, and it takes TIME for your inexperience to be corrected.

yikes, I would go BACK and DEMAND a refund with Sheltie Talk (or any other sheltie book) in hand and pictures pushed in their face to prove that they have NO clue...

Posted under cover of a "white flag" (since those of you "in the know" would happily inform me of my ignorance): perhaps that is not such a bad idea rather than just assume a groomer really does know how to groom a Sheltie.

Wow, poor Baker.... How could that groomer be proud of that? I am sorry you had to go through this.
