Best Food For Shelties in the USA?

We couldn't be happier with Remy's lack of gas and the consistency of his movements on the Fromm Puppy Gold. The high end store near my house, Natural Pawz, has a 10% Discount if you order it online and pick it up in-store. He powers through it too fast so we bought him one of those PUZZLE TOYS that you have to lift things, move things, to find each compartment and the food inside. He's getting really good at it though now that he knows where all the goodies are. Thanks again to everyone who pointed us in the Fromm direction. That change truly made a huge difference in our family happiness! Bill

Meadow has done very, very well on the Fromm puppy food. We are now switching over to our adult food which is Purina Pro Plan Lamb.
Sharon, I feed ProPlan sensitive stomach formulas also, the dogs do well on it and I think since it contains no corn it helps them with regular poops and no constipation. I also like the Purina Beyond, I found one with really good minimal ingredients, from Chewy, the one that comes in the 24 lb bag.

Glad Remy is doing well on Fromm Puppy Gold! A big fan of their adult Gold - Brodie's been on it since switching over. I order direct from the company. Ordered a bag last Friday and it was delivered on Sunday. If you sign up for their mailings, they often have some specials (not too often though) and they don't overwhelm you with lots of emails. I buy the big bag and it lasts for months....

I purchased Remy's last bag of Fromm Puppy Gold today. We'll be switching over to Adult food when this is done. Which Pro Plan Lamb are you feeding yours? Are they doing well on it? I'm somewhat inclined to stick with Fromm since Remy has done well on it, but Purina Pro Plan is everywhere and several people here have said that's what they feed their dogs. I don't know if Remy needs Sensitive Stomach or not but their Lamb and Oatmeal product looks pretty good.

Thanks.

Oh my yes, he doesn't need to be on puppy food at this age! I feed the Pro Plan Lamb for sensitive skin and stomachs, simply because I liked the simpler ingredients and my vet recommended Pro Plan as one of the foods not implicated in the DCM heart issues. We switched Meadow at 8 months and she is doing fine on it. Still nice solid poops. Remember to switch slowly, 1/4 new food to 3/4 old food, then 1/2 and 1/2 then 3/4 to 1/4 especially if you are switching proteins (from chicken to lamb, for instance). We took about 2 - 3 weeks to fully change over. You can easily order if from Chewy.com as we do.

Alternately, Fromm makes Adult Gold - I'm not sure if the ingredients are OK (no peas, lentils, etc) but I think several people here on the forums feed Fromm to their adults. Hope this helps.

When we get through Kismet's puppy food I'll be putting her on Pro Plan sensitive skin and stomach. We don't have the lamb so she'll have to go on Salmon. It's not that she is sensitive, just that it's single protein and doesn't have chicken (Tully is allergic so I prefer to keep it out of the house). Pro plan is one of the five WSAVA (World vet asssoc) compliant brands and is well researched so I'm happy for her to stay on it.

That's what I feed the most. The dogs do really well on it. Sometimes I get them Purina Beyond Lamb, it also has good ingredients
