Coldest You'll Walk Your Dogs/Let Them Out?

If it's below 15 degrees here I don't go out with Sandstorm, I just let him out the back door and yell PEE, or POOP at the top of my voice. SS is pretty good about it. He comes right back in.

If only that would work with Fasb.... Though I don't really think I want to send my dog out into weather I wouldn't go out in.

So, for 10-20 minutes, Fasb's paws should be tough enough not to get frostbitten? I'm a little more worried about that than wind chill.

Plan for tomorrow is to walk him as normal in the morning, then feed him late afternoon and take him out. If I can get him to do #2, I should be able to either keep him in or just walk him around the yard a bit.

I guess that I will find out Tuesday. We have had very mild winters since I got Sunny and Snow. Honestly, during the first frost we had this year, Sunny ran out the door and stopped dead in her tracks and actually lifted her paws to see why she was making that crunchy noise. The look on her face was so funny!
Sunny is definitely a warm weather dog.

Relax, you're an awesome Sheltie Guardian, Fasb will tell you to get him the heck home if he is in danger of getting frost bitten!! I dare say your nose is going to get it, before he does ;)
The cold SUCKS for us humans, and you sure wouldn't leave him out for too long, but it's nothing to be scared of over to the point of unhappiness.
It's really really horrible for dogs that are chained and frozen to the ground in their little houses, tethered on a 6 foot chain :dead::no:
and yes dog's feel the cold, of course they do, but they're still better prepared for it than we are, trust me!
 
You could always get some booties for Fasb to wear if you're worried abour frost. They do walk funny in them initially but get used to them.

Also, don't clip the fur from between his pads. My animal physio, who is a huskie breeder, says the paw fur provides additional protection from frost and snow, like built in booties.
 
You guys are making me really happy I live in Houston.. where it rarely gets below freezing. This morning I'm feeling like a wuss in the 27 degree weather!
 
I was going to put the guys in the garage to stay warm but they did not want to come back in.

I would leave them in the house but Sca is still having stomach aches (I think he is going to the vet tomorrow :( ) So they cannot stay in the house.
