So, I had to share this. BF and I have been dating for 2 years now and at Christmas, I gave him a collage of me and the dogs. He had a customer come in and ask about the dogs and she proceeds to tell him that she used to breed or have Collies (I can't remember and truly, it's not relevant). He tells her they're Shelties. He then tells me she kept talking as if, yeah, they're the same. He said something about being separate breeds, but she just wouldn't accept it. So he comes home and says, "I understand now and she was pissing me off because they're Shelties, not small Collies!!!" LMAO!!! The struggle is real, people!!!

I am lucky, around here, shelties are not that uncommon... neither are collies... so, folks seem to know the difference! Thank goodness!!!
I agree with Hanne... a boyfriend worth keeping!

When people call Phoebe a mini collie, I just tell them "close, but she is a sheltie" Frankly just their knowing collie is pretty good these days I think. My generation knew the collie breed because of the show Lassie which has loooooong been off the air. Not many people care about knowing all the breeds. Mostly just dog people do.

I've been asked numerous times how big Oberon will be when he grows up. When I say he's fully grown, some people still say, "No, I mean when he's an adult".

I think I had that with a few people too.

Funny story: My folks had a Sheltie (Prince) before my brother and I were born, so we grew up with one. 20-something years later, I got my first Sheltie and took him to see my folks and brother. My brother says, "when is he going to grow?" and since we had one, I was clearly confused. I said, "what do you mean?" and he says, "Prince was bigger" and I said, "no brother, Prince wasn't bigger, we were smaller....a LOT smaller". LMAO!!! According to my folks, Prince was the same size as Miko. But, growing up, I remember Prince being taller than me if we lifted him front paws off the ground. Haha!
