color questions

I thought the blues could have tan?? Not bi blue..but the blue merles??
I have a sable merle BIG boy..he's gorgeous!! (no bias here!)
I always get confused with color discussions!! Everyone uses different terminology!! LOL
I'd go with what gender you want and then personality and then color..you can pretty much live with any color...gender and personality type can get you!! LOL

Well, first - they are both beautiful boys! I'm partial to the look of the merle (whichever color he turns out to be). However, I would definitely spend time with them and see which endears himself to you. If you have to pick soon, go with your gut!

Welcome! Your bi-black is so cute!

I think all the puppies are adorable. I had the pick of the litter too with Maia, and she chose me and I am so happy with her.

The merle puppy you are considering reminds me of my Chinook's coloring! You can see him under my profile in his album. He is a blue merle - but he does have a lot of 'rust' in his color. Everyone always remarks on his color ie. they cannot explain it but they all love it! I will try and post a better picture of his color tonight for you to see.

I would go with your gut and pick the puppy that bonds to you the best! Good luck and let us know who you chose!

I wouldn't be able to resist that sable merle. But that may be because I have two mahogany sables and two tri-factored sables!

I love the mystery merle pup. Very cute!

It is always best to go with the dog you seem to have more "connection" with (unless of course you are looking for a show dog - than many other things must be considered)

Both look so healthy and sweet...I really miss have a sheltie puppy now.

ty all for your replies!

when i first saw the pics I was drawn to the sable, but it was a color attraction,I raise paint horses and everything on are farm is dark or blk/wh rt down to the cat lol.

But the more i stare at the pics(yep i look at em at least 10 times a day) The more i'm attracted to the merle.....The pic of him on the lap facing left is deffinately tugging me.

I live 14 hrs away, but the owner of the sire went to see them and get the pics for me.She said the sable is more boisterious, independant and was constantly wiggling to get down. The merle came rt to them and just wanted to cuddle and be held. Her family is all in love with the merle.

So i think thats the way i'm leaning.Shes going to get more pics in a week or so and is keeping me updated on their progress.:smile2:

It is good to know their personalities. Is there a way they can get videos up? (Seems I've (we've) been spoiled by Janet's Sheltie TV...)

I can't wait to see more pics of the beautiful boys.

The merle sounds like he has a great personality! Go with your gut! :wink2:
Here is a better photo that shows my Chinook's 'blue merle' colouring. It does have a bit of sable/rustiness in it, but he looks great.

Ania, Chinook is sable-merle (cute :smile2:) and this pup may be too.
Rustiness is rustiness - this is quite diffrenece than tans (eg. tans on tri or pure blue-merles).
Choosing between sable boy and merle boy is a just matter of time and Spazzygod should watching them.
For this moment in my opinion the merle boy have nice promising head, little better than sable boy pup.
So, I wrote that that I'd chosen the sable - it's only my habit from FCI sheltie standard :wink2: (yes, I must be more flexible  )
Spazzydog - are thinking for dog shows and/or breeding?
