With all this limping my little girl Megan has been doing, I need to start giving her some supplements! I have heard and read Cosequin AND Vibrant pets are great, but am curious what you all think?

Megan is not in agility, does go on walk/jogs about 5 days a week, so normal activity level :pop

Penny for your thoughts! :biggrin2:

I am probably going to have a very different opinion to a lot of members of this forum, as I did not really get great results from Vibrant Pets.

I have received GREAT results using Cosequin on both my horse and Chloe. My horse made a miraculous turnaround with her clicking joints. She is old and her ankles and knees would click when she walked. Within 6 weeks of starting Cosequin, it stopped. She has not clicked in 6 years.

I started Chloe on Cosequin when she started to have joint tenderness after her first time with Lymes. She does great on the Cosequin and has no joint problems. Before I started the Cosequin, I had her on the athlete Vibrant Pets, with no noticeable change. Within a month of starting Cosequin she was not dropping bars anymore in agility.

I think that Vibrant Pets may be good as a maintenance supplement, but when you have a real problem, the concentration of supplements in Cosequin is a lot more.

Now....there are a lot of cheaper alternatives to the Cosequin that I am sure some will give you. I just use the Cosequin because it works. I am not willing to change something that is working.

Good Luck!

Thank you Danielle...I was thinking the same thing and will discuss it with our Vet!

I think different compounds work better for different dogs, just like people. When our Sheltie Angel Bandit had serious lameness and joint problems from Lyme, I tried everything from Cosequin to Adequan shots. Nothing helped him except acupuncture and a homeopathic remedy called DogGone Pain.

Dani's experience with Cosequin's success make sense since it is more concentrated for joint issues. I'd try that first but keep an open mind if it doesn't work and try other remedies.

We've had great luck with VP but our dogs don't have joint issues thankfully. I hope it will help prevent them, but I'd also try something targeted to the problem if that's what we were treating. Good luck! I hope something helps her.

I agree. Vibrant Pets cleared up Bits' and Annie's wonky joints but when they have "flare ups," we add Cosequin. Every Sheltie is unique -- so true!!!

While my animals don't have any joint issues, I have a bad knee due to an accident and I have found Magnesium Oil to be a LIFESAVER! I can't imagine living without it. It's really good for joint/muscle pain, so might check it out. Magnesium is what makes our muscles keep from being in a constant state of tenseness. I seriously love this stuff.

Thank you Maggie I will look into it :wink2:! Tomorrow Megan goes to a highly recommended Chiropractor, I'll ask her about it too..
