Hi everyone
It's been awhile since I've been here
but I have a couple questions after taking Madi to her 1 year check-up.
After scoring an A+ for her exam, the vet and I were talking about some things. I had asked about Madi's weight (which was 18 lbs) and she said she looked great and was the right height/weight and I asked if I was feeding her enough/too much. She asked what she was eating and I told her Wellness brand. She kinda looked at me and hemmed and hawed and I said, "What, not a good brand?" Knowing full well she was gonna tell me no and try to get me to put her on Purnia. And sure enough she did LOL She says, "Well, it's not that they are a bad brand, just that there isn't enough scientific research to back them up. Now Purina has been around for a long time and they have lots of research. I recommend Purnia O.N.E."
Ok, whatever, not gonna happen here LOL
So, after that I was kinda aggitated at her. And she asked about flea treatment. And I told her I had been using a natural type treatment that I found that has just oils like clove, cinnamon and peppermint. She says, "Oh no, that not good for her at all." I asked why and she hemmed and hawed again and said it's just not good for them.
So, is it bad for me to use the oils instead of buying the stuff from the vet? It worked (we've been having issues with a few fleas since my MIL's dog came to visit last summer
) and I didn't have to put any chemicals into her system.
Also, what do you suggest for heartworm medicine? They have a couple different brands and I'd like your opinion.
