Do your shelties make a nest?

Sounds like its mostly the girls. Lil' Lady is the first girl in the family, and I get such a kick out of her, she is so much fun.

I am so happy to hear there are more shelties out there that love to get comfy. Lucky just thumps and lays down, not like the little Royal Highness.
Gotta love em.

Pepper unmakes my bed daily while I am at work. She scratches back the top "puppy hair protector" sheet layer, comforter, blanket, sheet and the extra pillows are usually on the floor. She makes herself quite comfortable in my absence.

Dandie will try to make a nest. It makes me nuts when she does it to the leather couch. That is a big no no in my book :eek2:

"Sounds like its mostly the girls. "

 Oh Dear Yogi. He is a MASSIVE nest maker. He digs and pounds and circles around for ages. Sometimes he will dig carefully at the grass to make a nest. The other night he did it on the carpet. I watched him carefully scratching the carpet with each paw for about 20 seconds about 5 times, then decide the couch was softer!!:rolleyes2:

Revel never, ever nests but he has a curious habit of sitting and scratching/digging the front door mat for about a minute some evenings. He only ever does it on the front door mat (we have an identical mat at the back door) and only ever at night. It is like a cat sharpening its claws - bizarre!!

Katie is the champion "nester"! As soon as I get up and make the bed, she's busy rearranging it to her specs. She will spend 5 minutes digging and pushing, then go somewhere else and plop down (what was THAT all about???)! She head butts the pillows around as well. She pushes her stuffed animals into a pile and then lays on top of them. It's the cutest thing.
Laddie, on the other hand, just plops himself down and stays put - no digging and pushing yet. He does like to shove his head between the two pillows (he's hiding!!).

mine seem to scratch and bunch the blankets/beds up in a wad so that they do not actually lay on them:rolleyes2:
makes me wonder why I bother to buy them beds and blankies- they prefer the bare floor :wink2:
at least Dixie will spend most of her time with me on the couch but she gets in her share of floor time too:yes:

Ember does but she is the princess and the pea. She likes her things just so.

Either Justice or Diva really make nests that I can remember. Only time I remeber Diva nesting is when she was in labor.

My Jrt/beagle Jazz nested but she was like Ember. Her nickname was Princess Pillow Paws for a reason.

Max was a champion nester. He was legendary for "making the carpet softer" before settling down for the night. Neechee, during his later years, would burrow between the bed pillows and end up with only his head sticking out. Bela (who has probably never experienced bedclothes in her puppy mill days) has recently discovered my down comforter. She will nose herself under it, then roll over so she's like a little enchilada with only her nose showing. She obviously thinks this is the neatest thing ever, even in 100 degree heat!

I think it depends on the dog and whatever makes them feel secure.

Bacca does it all the time....even when he is lying next to me on the bed in his "comfort zone"....he will still scratch and circle.

Indy NEVER does it. But he does has his "favourite" nests. I think once he has scoped them out once, he is satisfied.

I am laughing at the heat butting the pillows. Such great tales about these shelties. Glad to hear Lil' Lady hasn't been a crazy sheltie all this time. Her Royal Highness is a character.

The girls still have it.
