Dog beds?

I've been considering buying a doggie bed for Mr. Pip, who will be turning six months at the end of this week and staying out of the crate nearly full-time. I'm wondering if it's worth the effort and expense. My late Dickens wouldn't use a bed ... in fact, he slept anywhere and everywhere, with a hard, bare floor as his preference. When Mr. Pip is out of the crate he prefers, believe it or not, the space beside the toilet in the main bathroom, which is where I always find him when I've awakened from a catnap of my own! Are Shelties generally not interested in creature comforts, being the rugged, out-of-doors breed they are?
 
Mine are almost 5 and 7 and still sleep nightly in their kennels as well as anytime we are away from the house for an extended time. It's always a good idea to keep them reminded of kennel time so that if they become injured or get ill, it isn't a shocking experience for them - it's more comforting for them to be in 'their' space.

As far as actual beds, our youngest claims the leather couch in the living room as his during the day, while the older one pops from dad's chair to the love seat in the family room. If they decide to crash and it's not on furniture, most times it is in close vicinity to wherever I am. They do LOVE being up in our bed with us, but that's normally only when someone is not feeling well or if they sleep with me when daddy travels. We only have a queen so 2 humans, 2 dogs and 2 cats is sorta pushing it and us humans get the smallest spaces.
 
Mine have choices between open crates with beds in them, beds on the floors and of course, the furniture! They love them all, and rotate between using everything. I like bolster beds for them and have warmer, fuzzy ones for winter and cooler fabrics for summer. At any given time there will be a dog sleeping in a crate, one on a bed, one on the couch and some on the cooler floor.

I have 2 dog beds in my bedroom and one on the main. They all take turns with my bed being the favourite at night lol!
I did buy a premium dog bed (the Brooklyn dog bed) and both Piper and Blueberry love this one, Finnie being the largest of my Sheltie’s tends to go for the smaller beds…cozier maybe? lol
Of course on a hot day they’re on the floor like yours!
 
We have both actual beds and thick mats scattered in living room and the dog room where they all sleep at night, plus the office. We also have a carpeted house. Mine will rotate between sofa, various dogbeds, and a plain mat. My Brooke adored beds and I still vividly remember bringing home one and pulling it out of the package in front of her - she was smiling a big smile and immediately jumped in, she was so very happy because it was really thick and had sides, and she adored it.

The dog room had vinyl flooring so they do have that as a cooling option if it's hot and they don't want the beds.
