Ellie just vomited for the first time in her life and the vomit has little pieces of black plastic in it. I have looked all over the house and all over the yard and I can't locate anything with black plastic. If she just threw up now, could it possibly be something she ate at the dog park yesterday late afternoon? She also has had diarrhea the last two days. I am wondering at what point should she see a vet? With all the health related incidents she has had, this kind of thing just scares me probably way more than it should.

Feed her some chicken and rice and maybe a little pumpkin. If her diarrhea doesn't go away in a day or two or she doesn't act like her normal self then I would bring her to the vet.

Lahree, upchucking in this case is nature's way of getting rid of what shouldn't be thee. Agreed -- keep an eye on her, especially her poop. If she's not clear by tomorrow evening, then see the vet. I watch closely in cases like this and rarely try to stop the runs because something needs to get out!
I called the vet because she hasn't stopped puking and having diarrhea for about an hour and a half. She hunches over like she has to poop, but nothing comes out. The vet thinks it sounds like diverticulitis, but is going to check her a quick going over as soon as he gets back to the clinic. He is currrently dealing with a trauma to a little doxie.

Hug! You are right to be concerned. It definitely sounds like blockage.

It does sound like she ate something she shouldn't have. From what you describe, it's a good idea to talk to or see the vet. You just never know what they get into when we aren't looking.

Yup agreed. Does sound like blockage. When my pup had an upset stomach, she still pooped her normal schedule, it was just loose. What you're describing doesn't sound like that. Glad you called the vet. Hope she feels better.
Last summer my sheltie Dusty started passing blood in his bowels, I took him to the vet and she ask me if I had changed his diet, I told her I had gotten some new treats for all the dogs, well this one I cant give him. She said Shelties have sensitive stomachs and theres alot of treats they shouldnt have, so we get him different ones. She put him on a probiotic and he was just fine. Hope your baby is fine too.
Good gosh,I sure hope it is nothing serious.Could possibly be a blockage as others have said. But I have also seen cases of giardia,or cocsidia start that way also. Not to scare you,but it is definately a good thing you called the vet to get her in soon.
