Food Dispensing Toys?

My dogs LOVE the Kong Genius toys. I started with the Mike (http://www.amazon.com/KONG-Genius-Extra-Large-Colors/dp/B003JVDV6W), because it seemed easier, and now they have both graduated to the Leo (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0MQ7NCBWTDZ9NQFF43C3). Now I'm at the point that I'm combining the two. It's quiet, and it keeps even my brilliant overachiever occupied for a decent amount of time. Another toy they liked was the Starmark Everlasting Fun Ball (http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3207021&lmdn=Brand). It was also fairly quiet, and they liked to use their feet to roll it around. Food dispensing toys are great for getting dogs to problem solve - I probably have about 15 of them (ranging from puzzles to toys to balls) hanging around here - I rotate them on a regular basis so the pups don't get bored. Hope this helps!

I have a question about this ball, all the video's I've seen with this look like the treats come out fairly easily. What do you think? My two are experts at getting treats out of interactive toys - most of the Nina Ottosson games are too easy for them. They are really good at getting even large treats out of the tug-a-jugs and Nina Ottosson Pyramids.

I've been talking to some other people on line and they recommend the 'buster fooscube'. It has a maze inside so the treats have to meander through the maze first before they come out of the cube when the dog rolls it around. I plan on getting this one for my two. It looks like it will take them a while to get all the treats out. I found one on the following website:

I also found this website full of interactive treat dispensing toys:

I got Zak that orange buster cube and he had spots chewed on it in a day so back it went to the store. He loves his IQ and busy dog balls. I just ordered him a new busy ball as his other one is beginning to come apart since he hits it so hard.
He and Maggie have a game with the IQ ball, she slowly pushes it with her nose and then when Zak gets it and carries it around she chases after him. He goes around a chair or walks around the house and looks back to see if she is following him. It is the one toy that Maggie will run after.

Well drink bottles aren't too noisy and its certainly cheaper to just put holes in some.

I have a friend who uses gloves to hide treats. She puts the treat in one glove and then stuffs the glove into another and then another. Keeps her poodle cross amused for a long time.

I have never thought of this!! What a great idea and a recycling idea too! I have bought treat dispensing toys- Sandstorm ends up getting too many treats this way- as they are mostly easy to get out of the toy and then the interest is gone. Someone also mentioned using plain cheerios. They are low calorie and the perfect size. You guys are full of great ideas, thanks!

I accidentally found the CHEAPEST food dispensing tool ever! My clumsiness.

This morning I was bringing Indy his dish and I tripped over him and dumped his entire bowl of kibble over the entire sunroom! It must have spread 10 feet in each direction - under tables, chairs, etc.

I didn't bother pick it up, but laughed my fool head off watching Indy squeeze under all the furniture and sniff out all the loose kibble. He found EVERYONE! And instead of scarfing in 30 seconds...he took him a whole 5 minutes!:lol:
