Gavin's dotage

Love the pictures, Cindy, and so agree with you about senior dogs! They are just treasures. Gavin is so lucky to have you...enjoy every minute with him!

Checkers had a similar poop problem for a while. I started giving her Purina FloraFlora (available on Chewy or Amazon) and it really turned her around. It's a good probiotic targeting the gut. I also use slippery elm when needed. I did stop giving her pumpkin because it was making her gassy but my others all get it.

Pats to precious Gavin!

So thursday was not a good day. not terrible, but Gavin wasn't able to get up as much as normal (that's the biggest sign, he stays in his bed when I'm home and move rooms). So I move Gavin from dog bed to dog bed when I move rooms for any length of time. And when I am getting ready in the morning, he gets put upon my bed so he can see me. The little puppy monster wants me to put him up there so he can keep an eye on me, so preferably his head needs to be positioned so that he can see me while he is laying down on my high bed.

today is a bit better, but not great. So Gavin gets carried outside and steadied to pee (he gets a tad indignant and insists on walking up the ramp and back inside) and I will carry him over to his food and water bowl and steady him (and then he eats on his own). So Gavin gets helping hand when he needs it, and some days he needs it more than others.

So Gavin is sleeping today.... a lot. Our morning outing to the park, even though he was in his wagon the whole time except for his potty break in his chair, totally wiped him out. He did insist on coming on a stroller walk to the library with me, but he slept most of the time and his potty break was simply a wee and then he laid down. Bonus is that he has slept on my lap quite a bit. normally he only tolerate it as long as he is getting pets, but today he is so tired he just sleeps there.

as long as he wants to go, I will take him. He knows when I am going out for a morning hike (he stays home) vs when I take him for a stroller walk or when we go for our weekly outing. He will follow me when I am getting ready for his outings and make it clear he does not want to be left at home. This morning, he was on the couch after some morning snuggles, and when I started packing the car he jumped off to come follow me. Similar for the afternoon stroller walk. He hasn't been following me as much as normal the past few days, but that seems to be part of our rollercoaster of good day/not so good day. Of course, he did get upset when I was doing laundry and was out of his sight for more than what he determines as an appropriate amount of time, and he went looking for me (or tried, his leg gave out a little).
