It is with great sadness that I change my signature, adding Gracee to the other Shelties across the Rainbow Bridge. She was lost in October at age 16 1/2, and lived an amazing life. She has done everything with us in Alaska. She was a highly skilled frisbee girl in her earlier days, and if we had steered her into performance activities she might have done well but she was too busy being part of our active family and having fun.
She went out on our fishing boat in Prince William Sound each August, she would start barking when the rods went wild after a big Coho hit it, then bark even more when we landed the fish! We heard many comments on the VHF radio, calling us the "Dog Boat". More than once when we were slayin the fish other boats would head to our area after hearing Gracee barking with every fish.
She could be really noisy, and had many Sheltie "triggers" such as lawnmowers, spreaders, 4 wheelers and snowmachines, the dryer, the footrest of my chair, you get the idea! Some family members thought she could be annoying, not us. Her personality defined her.
Last year her photo was featured for a day on Sheltie Nation. May she run and play forever now with her new friends..... Thought I could do this without tears but I failed.
