great deal on bones.

so today was jumping in day.. I was and still am nervous about it until I see her first poo, but I gave her 2 small chicken necks. at first she licked them and looked around like she couldn't figure out where her dry food was, but then she dived in.. rather ladylike, chewing and not gulping. it was actually quite scary to hear the bones crunch and realize that this is a true carnivore and what harm those teeth could do if she had a mind to.

so after finishing, she trotted around from room to room looking for more.

I did pray that she would have no injurious effects and am waiting to see what happens next.

Oh lucky Belle!!... She'll be fine... REALLY!!... She'll be better than fine. I'm so hopeful that Miko's digestive issues will be corrected one day, so that he can eventually eat a raw diet.

No prayer needed. Dogs are carnivores, they are "designed" or have evolved (depending on your personal model) to eat meat and bone and organ. It's all good. I'm sure she was quite pleased that her mother fed her species appropriate food.

Yep, she will be perfectly fine. :) She's eating what she was designed to eat, and like others said, I bet she's sooo happy. After only a cpl weeks of feeding mine all raw, the thought of going back to kibble is horrendous... never again. My lily was having seizures (2 a week) for three weeks and since going raw there hasn't been ANY!!

Keep in mind she may not poop for a bit... Hadley, my adult sheltie, poops only every other day usually. Don't make the mistake of thinking she's constipated and giving her something to loosen her up.... I loosened Hadley up TOO much ahhaa.

I felt the same way!! I was like wow their teeth are so insanely strong. Just shows how that kibble is wasting the use of the jaw as it was intended to be used.

thanks for telling me this.. one thing I noticed is that she isn't drinking as much water as she normally does, is this normal?

I think it is because the kibble is so dehyrdated, they need the water to dilute it. With RAW, it has all it's water in it, so they do not to drink as much.

thank you, I am glad to hear that..

well, we just got back from our walk, and she had a normal poo, I was very glad of that!

That crunching sound makes me so happy now :)
I remember the first times I had the same reaction to it

It's even more intense for the room mates German Shepherd I look after, wha a jaw! She's also VERY good at ripping pieces off for her to be able to process much betteer than Toffee.. who is way more dainty with his food!
