Recently, Renaissance Fair came to town. We live three blocks away, so the girls and I spent all day, literally, walking back and forth and to and fro in the market. Sada almost had her brains bobbled out off-roading in her stroller, but whenever we paused, she was right at hand level to be loved on. Oh, Fly was SO jealous! They wore their beautiful Renaissance collars and we frequently passed the Humane Society's cookie booth!
As I was standing beside the booth, chatting with some of the lovely ladies, I heard some woman say, "Hey! Look, that's the woman that's always yelling out of her car at us." I turned, looked at her, didn't' recognize her from Adam and felt seriously disturbed. I never yell at people, I don't even honk my horn at people! I turned away to redistribute lamb shaped cookies to Fly and Sada, when she said it again, this time to me directly.
I thought I was about to get pummeled or something! What had I DONE? Then she tapped her partner on the shoulder again, pointing at Fly, "Look, just like George!"
Aaaah. I realized with great relief that they were my father's neighbors with the tri-sheltie. Who recognizes humans anyway? I mean, really! They finally got to see my girls up front instead of me gesturing to the back seat of my car. I apologized about my ridiculous habit of running down ANYONE with a sheltie and insisting on telling them how gorgeous their dog is. They laughed and said that though I seemed a little crazy, they could understand. Maybe, this is something I'll consider in the future... Not everyone is as wild about shelties as I am.
