Holistic Flea and Tick repellant

I took Sadie and Milo hiking yesterday. I forgot to check them for ticks as soon as I got home (I've never had to before and am still trying to get in the habit :uhoh:), and a couple of hours later I saw a tick crawling through Sadie's rough. I pulled it out and searched her but found no other ticks and nothing embedded.

I checked Milo and almost immediately found one embedded on his front leg near his elbow. It was small and flat so I don't think it had been there long, I used some tweezers to remove it.

Looks like the Nature's Guardian is working! :biggrin2:

I'll be interested to see if I find any ticks on her in a couple of weeks.

I found 3 embedded ticks on Sadie

Sadie was at a near by park last night playing with some of her friends. Today I was grooming her and found 3 embedded ticks in one of her ears, attached to the flap. :(

I'm very disappointed, I'd hoped I'd solved our tick problems with the Nature's Guardian but apparently not. It hasn't even been two weeks since I applied the last spot-on treatment. My guess is that they went to her ears because it was the furthest area from the medication. I guess I'll have to keep a closer eye on her and see how the rest of the summer goes.

Poor Sadie, they were all well attached, especially the one. I felt so bad pulling them off, it really hurt her and her ears bled. I put some rubbing alcohol on the bites and some antibiotic ointment for infection.

I think I'll try Frontline next summer and see what happens.

Poor Sadie. I was hoping that it would work. My order still has not come, so I haven't been able to try it. I think by the time it does come the ticks will be gone for the year.

Playing the Lyme Waiting Game

Me, too. We're having pretty good luck, except for me. My ticks tested positive for lyme. My doc called an infectious disease specialist -- she says we test me in early August. :(

For pete's sake, that's really lousy luck, Chris. I take it the doc's wait through the incubation period before testing? If found, what antibiotics will be used to treat it?

I'm just glad it's been caught very early, thanks to your caution.

oh no-hope your immune system fights it off and you don't get it.

What rotten luck, Chris. I hope they are giving you the antibiotics now and not waiting. I know the test doesn't give a positive until Lyme has been in your system for a while (found this out having been tested three times last year!) but our docs around here all treat with the antibiotic if the tick is positive. I'm adding you to the people saint prayer list!!

Ontario, I took a tick off of Pixie tonight too. But then I've taken them off the dogs when they were on Frontline, Advantix and Biospot. I'm afraid nothing is 100 percent effective. Ticks are just insidious, rotten creatures...:dead:

I bought a bottle of natures guardian and my furkids got fleas. I wonder how you all were using this. Maybe operator error. It smells great but Fleas yikes. I havent found ticks though. Im thinking after this maybe going back to my regular flea product. I now have 4 angry dogs that I spent hours bathing and flea hunting.
