Huge Sheltie...

Around our area I think most shelties tend to be on the larger size. It made me frustrated because everyone kept telling me that my Honey was small for a sheltie, when at 14 at the shoulders and 20lbs she's right in the standard for a female.

Of course in Honey's mind, she's about 20 at the shoulders and 50lbs, thinks she can throw it in with the biggest of the dogs.

I've got a giant and a small sheltie. My 9 year old, Sparky, is 19" and 45lbs. Daisy, 4 in August, is 13" and 25lbs. Neither one of them is overweight.

I got Sparky at 10 weeks. He was the last one left in his litter and the breeder told us he would be over the standard size. But I took one look at his face and couldn't resist!

I have had both. Miley was about 18 inches and 40lbs ( a little heavy....our neighbor was caught giving her treats over the fence )
Bella is 14 inches and 20lbs....everyone goes on and on about how little she is. I have to say I preferred Miley's bigger size. Plus she was very sporty and playful. Bella is a little miss priss! BUT it does make it easier to pick her up and cuddle

Welcome to the forum daisysparky.I also have a 45 lb sable Sheltie and a 23 lb blue merle. Great photos....we love pics.

Dickens is 38 pounds at nine months and around 19.5 inches. His mother was a big one, but Dad was relatively small at 18 pounds.

My blue merle is 17" and 23 lbs. Dash was 2 on April 30....he may still have some growing to do.

Alfie is happy he found his big friends! He's 17"tall and around 31lbs. He's a collie wannabe as well, very much like cranberry lol

We have three shelties. The first two are really big. Bristol(male) at 22" 42lbs and Charlotte (female) 20" 40lbs and Sparkie 13" 15lbs and all three are beautiful. Big or small we love them all. We also have a Border Collie that we rescued from the pound. Its amazing how well they all get along and play together.
