I just responded to a craigslist ad...

scams

I've seen a lot of people posting in my area for yorkies, and it ends up being a scam (heard from a friend). They try to get you to send them the money first, then get the heck out of dodge. Or sometimes they don't answer at all because someone has reported them.

So let's hope it's just something like that and there isn't a poor sheltie out there

There are a lot of people in general just stealing dogs and then posting them on craigslist saying that they need to rehome them. Then they ask for a rehoming fee of $150 or $200 and get rid of the dog to the first person that bites. Isn't the internet creating some great alternatives to the very creative people in our society to profit from?
