Megan doesn't have great teeth , and of course it's my fault for not brushing them. Recently at a check up our Vet told me she needs her teeth professionally cleaned this year . Other then me having a wrestling match trying to manually brush them (which I do, I try),, is there anything else I can do? Are there treats that help brush the teeth?

Raw bones... none of the processed stuff
Lamb neck or Pork neck ones...
Also could train dog to accept brushing...

I never brushed Toffee's teeth and at 3.5 years old they are still pearly white... but I feed raw and that is not everyone's preference...

I've talked about this before on here but don't know if you've seen it. I use Oxyfresh. You can add it to their water or spray it in their mouth. I used to add it to the water but was never sure if they were drinking it or getting enough, since we have several water bowls.

I bought the small size spray bottle and now I spritz it in their mouth every morning. It's safe and won't interact with any medications or conditions (I checked). My vet recommended this after my Sheltie angel Ivy had to have most of her teeth pulled years ago and I really do think it helps. I brush their teeth a few times a week, but I think the Oxyfresh makes a big difference. They don't mind the taste either and line up each day for their "mouthwash" after breakfast! Also, it's not expensive and a 16 oz bottle lasts me about a year with three dogs.

The new vet I saw on Saturday recommended Plaque-Off, which is a dried seaweed and he says it works great. I am trying to find a dealer here is Canada, as Amazon.com who has it will not ship to Canada.

yes, bones are about 5 to 10% of a raw diet, depending on which model you feed.

A lot of people on here give a bone or two a week for teeth maintenance. Maybe they will chime in to discuss whether it makes a difference to their dog's teeth, I have heard it does

I use oxyfresh tooth gel and I spray plague blast on Baileys teeth. I brush her teeth every other day. She also gets ghe occasional freeze-dried duck feet and raw hide.

She has pretty good teeth for her age.

I brush mine...some more often than others...cough cough those who cant stay away from the kitty crunchies get their mouth scrubbed more often...but I also use plaque blast. Which loosens up the plaque in the back of mouth. I just spray it on and than brush it off and their teeth stay pretty clean.

Thank you all for the great suggestions! Oxy Fresh, Plaque Blast, Plaque off, raw bones. They all sound great, I'm sure there all better then having to Megan under to get them professionally cleaned.
