I'm a little scared.....

I'm haunting the forum, waiting for the diagnosis. Prayed really hard for Bacca this morning -- explained to God how much you need this little boy! :wink2:

Well, prayers must be working!

This morning I got up to get my morning coffee and stumble back to bed, and for the first time in over a week, Bacca got up too! Then he and Indy spent the next 30 minutes chasing each other around the bedroom. I checked his face and the swelling is down even further and I couldn't even feel the lump anymore. Though his eye is still a little squinty and watery.

I was scheduled to bring him to the specialist this morning which would have required fasting and sedation, biopsy and all kinds of other intrusive stuff. So I called my regular vet again to give an update. We then agreed to hold off on the specialist to let the meds take their course. No sense in putting the dog through all that.

Gave him breakfast, which he chowed down nicely! Supper time, my son fed him before I got home...all he got was the dry kibble (instead of the luxurious canned stew I'd been giving him), and he ate that too!

Next week, I'll bring him to my regular vet for a final check. They're cautiously optimistic, but do think that this is something that we will need to keep a close eye on going forward.

I guess, for now, I can let my breath out. But fingers and toes still crossed!

Thanks again, everyone, for all your loving support!

wonderful news barb!!! Im doing a happy dance for you!!! Glad to hear hes doing better and the lump is going down. I would bet that he either got bit by something (like a bug) or even playing with indy he may have nicked him causing an abcess....Glad to see the antibiotics are working!

Thank heavens he is doing better. I've been SO worried that I keep checking for updates every time I have a spare second. They become such a part of our lives that they are not just our 'pets', they become our family. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU.

So sorry to hear this...

Hi Barb. I'm so sorry to be just now hearing this... I've been dealing with Kai's emergency the last few days and haven't really been able to check the boards. I'm glad to find now that things seem to be looking better but know exactly how scary all this is. How are things tonight?
:o

Glad to hear that he is improving!

Steady on Bacca, keep getting better so that you can take care of your mommy!

What great news, Barb, hooray! :biggrin2: It does sound as if some sort of infection was involved, either from an abscess or something else. That's why the antibiotics are giving you such a marked improvement. That's really good news -- I do think if it were more serious they wouldn't have this effect. Hopefully this will all just go away and Bacca will be his old, happy, rambunctious self, and you can relax! Thanks for the update...we have all been holding our breath!! Pats to Bacca (and poor Indy, who I'm sure has been really neglected...LOL  )

YEE HAH !!! That is wonderful news. Time to take a few deep breaths. Give those pups an extra hug from all of us.
