Inconsolable

My precious Sheltieboy died in mid-September. He was, for fifteen years, my loyal, loving, and brave companion, my furry little sould mate, and a long list of other important things. Without him by my side, life will never be the same. I cry every single day, and have trouble sleeping. I miss him so badly - I feel like I am going to cry every single day for the rest of my life. And yes, I am crying right now.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know the pain all to well as many of us here do. I lost my precious Chandler in April and still miss him everyday. I still have my Sheltie Gypsy in my life and she has helped me with my grief. When the time is right for you maybe bringing another Sheltie into your home would help you heal and honor your other Shelties life.

Sending prayers your heart will heal and the wonderful memories you shared will bring smiles to your heart.

We are so sorry for your loss, and many of us know how you feel. I cried for a very long time after losing my first Sheltie, and each of the two I've lost since. I hope the day comes when you can remember the happy times with your pup and feel some peace.

For me, the Sheltie puppy that came into our lives after we lost our Scruffy didn't replace my precious girl, but took my attention and made me smile even when I didn't want to with her puppy antics. I hope eventually you can find room in your heart for another Sheltie. It really does help us heal -- but not forget.

I am so sorry you lost your loyal and loving companion. Sending prayers that your heart will start to heal and the memories will bring a smile rather than tears.

We lost our Angel one year ago yesterday. We had added Lexi before she left us and a little clown, Kenzie. In Feb. we added Pyper. Nothing can replace the love of that first so special sheltie, but I'm so glad we still have shelties to love. Everyone of them is special and unique....

So very sorry to hear of your precious boy's passing. My heart and prayers go out to you.

I'm so sorry for your loss... and I know how you feel.

In 2000, when I was a sophomore in college, we lost our beloved family pet, a Sheltie named Specs. Even now sometimes when I talk about her or think about her, I get choked up. But, like others have said, getting a new Sheltie has really helped me immensely. As previously mentioned, the new pup doesn't replace your beloved companion... but it does give you something else to focus on, as well as lots of love and comfort.

And speaking solely for myself, it also provided an outlet for all the belly rubs and head scratches that had been building up in my system for all those years I was without a Sheltie. And, there are times when Lerwick (the new puppy) will do something-- move in a certain way... look at me a certain way... lick the silverware in the dishwasher as I'm loading dirty dishes--that are identical to the things Specs used to do. And for those brief moments, Specs lives on again.

I hope you can find peace, and are able to look back and smile at the memories of your precious Sheltieboy, and yes, when the time is right, to add a new companion to take up the mantle and walk bravely by your side as you journey through life.

It doesn't get easier with the more of them you lose. Nicky, Kathy, Katie, Munchkin, Judy, Tyler, Higgins, Misty, Barbie, Bear, Jock, Taco, Peeper and Sally are the Shelties in my memories. That's the only place they are right now, but when I pass, they will be at the Rainbow Bridge, waiting for me. Especially Jock, as he was my first.

Just remember that he'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

You will stop crying, eventually. The pain will pass. You'll find yourself remembering more of the good times than the end, and you'll find yourself laughing and smiling when you remember his antics. No new puppy will ever be a replacement for the one in your memory, but it will be a new joy to love. Luke is Jock's grandson, but he's not Jock and I wouldn't want him to be. :)

I am so sorry for your loss Our dogs are truly family to us and losing one is never easy. A new pup will not replace your sweet boy, but perhaps one day you'll feel as though it's time to get a different little buddy to keep you company and bring joy into your life. He would want that for you because he knows how great it is to be loved by you. Bless you.

I am so sorry for your loss, I am choked up reading this. I hope you can find peace. I'm sure there is another sheltie out there waiting to be rescued by you, who you could give a wonderful life. It would be a way to honor your precious boy
