Interceptor

We have a 6 yr old Sheltie and just gave her the last pill that we had of Interceptor. When we went to buy some more, we were told that production was stopped for 3 or 4 months for this product. :gaah We'd like to keep her medication continuous. Does anybody have an idea of what else to use for Shelties? Thanks in advance for your ideas.
 
I used Revolution last month when my vet ran out of Sentinel, he did and doesn't have problems with either of them
 
We sued to use HeartGard, but were warned by our vets in NY about potential adverse effects in certain herding breeds, such as Shelties and Collies. We switched to Interceptor and have been very pleased. The production of Interceptor was re-started, last I'd heard. I've heard mixed reviews on the Revolution, but you have to go with what works for you. Have you asked your vet for advice?

The problem with ivermectin in Shelties is the same for all heartworm meds due to a mutation in the MDR1 gene. All are safe at low does and all are not safe at high doses.ie interceptor, revolution, advantage multi as well as Heartgard. if you used cattle ivermectin and dose it yourself that is not safe because it is to easy to overdose. That is why ivermectin has such a bad rap. Use a heartworm product you're fine.

Of course, if your dog is MDR1 normal/normal it isn't a big worry.
 
I use Revolution. I have no issues with it, but I am counting down the days until we can get Sentinel again.

I don't like that Revolution doesn't prevent all ticks. And I don't feel comfortable using two topicals (Revolution and Frontline)
