Is it too late for a name change?

I really like the name Claussen. I think it is a handsome name, and that he looks like a Claussen. And we know Claussen is a very, very handsome boy!

Just putting my 2 cents in.

If you want to change the name, go ahead and change it. You are the one having to shout it all the time so you really need to be comfortable with it. The dog won't care and nobody else will really. For most people it will be momentary puzzlement but they will forget in no time at all. Soon, you will be the only one who remembers he was ever called something different :smile2:

I've tried "Cailean" on for size and it just doesn't seem to fit for him. Claussen will remain Claussen for now lol. You're right Mally's Mom, he really does look like a Claussen!

Come to think of it, my son changed his Border Collie's name a year after he got him. His ex-fiance had named the dog the most God-awful name and son always hated it. The dog had no problem with the change, which was a completely different name in every respect.

Go for it!

Yes, I know all about bad names...a cat I rescued had originally been named "Floyd" (she's a female cat, too) , then her next owner named her Fuzzy McGreyslacks, and my ex decided to name her Bella because the collar I had on her had a bell on it. Better than the other names anyways.

We got a cat off our aunt and named it Phoebe as their vet said it was a girl (and we were going through a Friends phase) My brother and dad looked at her and thought that she was a boy but the vet said she was a girl so me and mum said they must be wrong. Fast forward a few months when we went to get her neutered at our vet and, lo and behold, she was a he. We decided that it was too late and he stayed Phoebe. That poor cat.

I'm willing to bet that my aunt got to of the kittens mixed up or something and gave us the boy instead of the girl, she's kind of spacey at times. Seriously, a boy called Phoebe, and he was a great hunter and really dignified. You'd have to be with that name

Like a "Boy named Sue" Johnny Cash for those who don't remember.

They will get used to a new name, particularly if there are rewards associated with it.

I call out "Carrots" and both my dogs come running (this is how I get them out of the bush at the cottage - carrotts! ) So you would think that both their names are Carrot!

Hubby and I have two adopted Shelties. We decided to give each of them a fresh start by christening them with new names. Took them a few weeks, but with constant repetition and yummy rewards they learned to respond to their new names. I say go for it, but make sure this name sticks.

"Treat?" is the platinum value word in my house haha. They could be going after a squirrel and with that word, heads whip around, cock to the side, and they make a beeline for me. Should use that instead of "come" from now on lol.
