Is my husband nuts, or does anybody else do this too?

Ok, so I've been reading How to Be Your Dog's Best Friend the training book written by the New Skete Monastery... and to my surprise and delight... they mention in there being teased by the Nuns for singing to their dogs.

(LOL, I can't believe I'm bringing this up) My hubby has a song for each dog... just silly little things that hes made up, but each dog knows its song and will wiggle and smile for all they are worth when he sings their song.
From day one, he dubbed Tess "Rat Dog" so her song is a revised rendition of the Cat Dog theme from the old Nickelodeon show. Since Bomber came to us around Christmas his is based on the Rudolph song and due to his skin condition starts out with "Bomber the strip nosed sheltie..... had a very hairless nose..."
Sad, huh? :rolleyes2:
Just wondering if we are truly nuts or if maybe somebody else out there will own up to these kind of antics.

we try not to comment on anyone's sanity around here
but yes, there are members who have songs for each dog. since it was first mentioned a while back, I have tried to come up with songs for mine.

I'm not as creative as some- both girls get Brown-eyed Girl :wink2:
but Cranboy really doesn't have his own theme song yet :uhoh:

No way... I used to sing to Mark when we were in the ring! The junior showmanship classes were really big - 15-25 - so we invariably had a lot of downtime, and I spent most of it being cute with him. He wasn't ever really "into" toys, but he liked to be teased and tagged and made a fuss over.

This Patti Page standard was his favorite (lip-synched to the hilt by Guy Pearce in this video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i3oAz9Q6hM

My mom and I would also sing "His name was Mar-kie! He was a show-dog!" to the tune of "Copacabana". We had a whole bunch of Mark-centric lines made up, and it always got a big smile from him. He also liked opera (especially the "Catalog Aria" from Don Giovanni, which I could do in a sort of gurgly alto).

Honestly, if it makes the dog happy, I say do it, and hang the looking silly!

Sounds perfectly sane to me! I always sing to Bailey. I like to change any song that has "baby" in it and replace it with Bailey. She gets a kick out of it... Although, my singing voice is questionable

Our dogs don't have their own personal songs, but we definitely sing to them! We replace words with their names...and other favorite words like "bark" and "bite"

For some odd reason, this song: http://www.angelfire.com/tv2/homerjs/margeturkey.wav has become a favorite. We just change "oh margie" to "Oh Bentley" or "Oh Lexi".

(My husband is a huge Simpson's fan, so he started it)

Pixie and Barkley requested years ago that I refrain from singing. I can clear a room in a minute. But Checkers just loves music. Her absolute favorite is Aretha Franklin (although she did sing along with Christina Aguilera at the Super Bowl...and probably got the lyrics right).

Anyway, Aretha's R.E.S.P.E.C.T. becomes C.H.E.C.K.I.E. in our house and she'll throw her head back and join in. It's a hoot!

I love it when they sing along! A friend's Sheltie loves to howl along to "oldies" music... usually when the electric organ comes in. He starts going rrr, wrrr, wrr, and then wroo wroo wroo and there's no stopping him. :biggrin2:
